On October 15th, YouTubers will be teaming up with Stand Up To Cancer for an epic 12-hour-long live stream to help fight cancer. Caspar Lee, Alfie Deyes, Dan & Phil, Zoella, Joe Sugg, Sprinkle of Glitter, Oli White, Marcus Butler, Pixiwoo, Niki and Sammy, Jim Chapman and The Mandeville Sisters are just some of the many famous YouTubers who are a part of this great event.
Speaking about this amazing event, Dan & Phil said, “It’s awesome to be part of Stand Up To Cancer; it’s an incredibly important cause. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, which means most of us will be affected by it in some way, so we all need to do everything we can to help beat it! Phil and I have an incredible community of followers and I really hope they’ll get behind us and support the cause across the ‘1000 HOURS’.”
It will be a record-breaking live YouTube event which will help raise awareness and money for cancer. Fundraising will start with Joe & Caspar who will challenge themselves and try to stay silent for 3 whole hours. They commented on the campaign saying, “We’re honored to be part of YouTube Stands Up To Cancer and we’re looking forward to helping raise lots of money and kicking cancer’s butt,” while Pixiwoo added, “We’re so honored to be given the opportunity to help raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. It’s an amazing campaign, involved in important work and we’re looking forward being able to positively contribute in our own small way.”
Marcus Butler will raise funds by being a part of an epic Bear Grylls Survival Race while Niki and Sammy are going to compete against each other in bowling. There are numerous other events, challenges and live streams.
YouTubers Stand Up To Cancer also received some negative comments regarding lack of diversity. There are no ethnic minorities included in the campaign, which means they missed out on a huge demographic. Fitness YouTuber Scola Dondo responded to that in her video White YouTubers Stand Up For Cancer which can be found here.
